Today I would like to share a gardening tip. ✨🌱✨
I was at the hardware store earlier and I will admit when I walk by an entire wall of products that poison the earth, like roundup, I sometimes for a moment feel powerless. There is so much of it and so many people putting it in their carts. But then I shake myself out of it because it’s not helpful. What helps me feel better is to remember that I do have power. We have the power to make our own choices every single day. And additionally by making my choices hopefully it may inspire someone else to claim their power too. I choose to share our harvest with wildlife including insects, and I choose to not use products like roundup for weeds. I also choose to see the value and beauty in many “weeds” such as for example dandelions, which are medicinal and edible for us and for wildlife. ❤️ Even though we do share our harvest, we also do want to be able to enjoy fruit and veggies. So my tip for today is use garlic. For years we have planted one clove of garlic on each side of our tomatoes and veggies and the garlic greens that sprout up discourage deer and other animals from eating the plant. They don’t love the scent. It’s super easy. 1.) take a clove (make sure it’s organic because much of the non organic garlic is treated with something that inhibits growth) 2.) place it on each side of your new planting (my middle photo is a baby zucchini plant) and simply push it into the ground pointy side up. (I love doing this with my bare hands and feeling the earth, but gloves are fine or if your soil is hard use a small spade.) Cover it with a tiny bit of dirt. 3.) in a few weeks garlic greens will sprout. Photo 3 shows one of the ones from last year -we regularly harvest and cook with these garlic greens -they are delicious. Similar to green onions but garlic taste. 🌱🌱🌱 We have so much of it that we don’t bother to plant in advance, but if you are graced with a lot of deer visitors you can plant the garlic cloves a few weeks before the seedlings will go in. 🦌 This is mostly to protect the actual plants-so that they don’t get topped and we can all enjoy the fruit/veggies! Discussing reincarnation - from a linear perspective - often there are misconceptions that animals have to somehow evolve "up" to become a human.
🌀 In my experience communicating with hundreds of animals, I am continually told that the soul has a choice whether to incarnate as an animal or a human or a tree for that matter. ✨ A human can choose to come back as an animal and vice versa. A soul is a soul. Human souls are not more advanced than animal ones. Animals share past life experiences as humans, other animals and as all kinds of multi dimensional beings. I have met some that had lives as being of pure light. The concept of a species hierarchy is an artificial construct which is perpetuated because there are (& have been) those who benefit from the use of animals and because many of us have lost our connection to nature. This is finally changing. The species hierarchy is crumbling as we shed light on it and so many already are standing up for animals. It is time. There is no species hierarchy. ✨❤️ I did not photoshop this photo. It is of a robin that had flown into our window and became a bit stunned and I sent her reiki and after a bit I saw her fly up to the tree branch. I took this one photo and this is how it came out.❤️ I was discussing this with a lovely cat mom earlier and it felt relevant to share here that many of our animal companions, especially the ones that are extra sensitive starseeds /starlights also experienced some of the intense energies that their human parents did in the past few months. They could feel them directly as well as indirectly by feeling the stress/discomfort from their humans. So to help them out-please do extra clearing- clear yourselves and the home environment. Really take a moment to gage where your own energy is at the moment and how your home’s energy feels. Use any method you prefer-intention, crystals, fresh air, elements, sage/herbs, bless the water that you (both) drink, and one of my favourites is to visualise energy healing in the form of rainbow light (the way animals tell me the reiki I send them looks) flooding the whole home. Imagine it in the closets, even in areas you may not frequent like a basement or attic. And include your vehicles, especially if they ride in them with you. Create your own version if you wish it can be sparkly golden or look like galaxies.
I am often asked how my sessions work. Each medium/animal communicator has their own unique way & for most of us it’s always evolving. So I thought today I would share mine as it is now.
Once I receive a request for an animal intuitive session, (along with a photo of the animal & questions) I set a time to connect with them. This initial part I always do remotely. I meditate and reach out to them as I am looking at their photo. I invite their guides, their higher/soul self, & the guides of the human companion(s.)I love doing it this way because there are no time restraints. I don’t have to worry about asking ?’s immediately-I am able to allow the conversation to flow organically and get to know them, I like to compare it to having a cup of tea with a new friend. Sometimes they want to share something that wasn’t specifically asked about or there may be something that’s sort of coming through “between the lines.” Some animals are very chatty and some take a little longer to talk more, especially if there has been stress or trauma in their past they often want to shield their current loving families from that. Sometimes they share past life info and other times they stick to more practical things. They seem to know what their human needs to know/learn from them.🧡I write everything down-all the words, sentences exactly as stated to me, visuals and emotions they share. Once I have had this “cup of tea” initial part - then I email the human companion to set up a phonecall for as soon as it fits into our schedules. (Skype or What’sApp for international) During the call (which lasts usually 45-60 minutes) I share all of my notes - everything that came through during the initial part, and I also again invite all the guides and connect with the animal so that I can also ask them to answer or clarify anything while on the phonecall with their human. After the call I email photos of all of my handwritten notes (including any taken during the call.) My process is the same for animals in spirit. The first few years I didn’t do the phone call part-I simply emailed the notes-now I’m finding it lovely to connect this way with the human companions too! My "sessions page" has specific details and information regarding requesting a session-I just wanted to try to clarify my process a little here. Photo above with my daughter taken by Charlie Watts Photography ![]() I would like to share my new tattoo. It’s based on a beautiful portrait of my kids Merlin & Gracie Belle by Nicole Piar. I love it so much! It is a visual reminder that they are always with me even when I’m away from home. It makes me happy to look at it. I also have (an older) one of my first 2 sons Juneau and Jarvis on the back of my neck. Not everyone is into tattoos but I love the concept of having something tangible that serves as a reminder that our companions are always connected to our hearts and souls. It could also be a piece of art or jewelry that reminds us of them or a special stone we carry. When our companions are in spirit it becomes especially meaningful to have visual tangible connections, like photos and portraits around the home as well as on our phones. ![]() I have been thinking about titles. How we choose them (or sometimes fit into them if they are chosen for us.) They can be lofty or plain, descriptive or deliberately obscure, whimsical or practical. When I began formally doing this work I struggled with whether to refer to myself as a medium for animals, animal communicator, reiki/energy healing practitioner, or a provider of interspecies family guidance. (sure there were a few even more wordy options) I chose animal intuitive because I felt like it is able to encompass all the things. Reiki for animals and communication and medium work connecting with animals in spirit and their inter dimensional guides.
🌟 Part of me wants the title to be clear but also broad enough to encompass how sessions continue to evolve over the years - each single one is unique. Sometimes there is a focus on physical ailments and other times it’s all about the emotion and spiritual connection between animal and human companion. Mostly it’s both. It can be hard to describe because there really is no “typical” session. I help people understand their animal companions better. I assist animals in expressing themselves. I send them energy healing and love.✨I communicate with animals who have crossed the rainbow bridge. My priority has always been to help animals and the people who love them. When I learned to clearly communicate with spirit (shout out to my amazing teacher Jamie Butler) it was so exciting -especially because developing these abilities led to reiki and to using those same skills to fully focus on animal intuitive work. Ultimately I’m not sure if titles really matter to me. I think they can be helpful in a general way but the specifics and the true magic of it all occurs when I’m tuning in to an animal. I am only capable of feeling big love for animals which then expands as I get to know them. In the most plain words I can think of: I talk to animals. And in order to help them share what they want/need to - I also talk to spirit guides and all kinds of inter dimensional beings. I send reiki healing with the assistance of many of the aforementioned guides & beings. I love what I do.❤️ I want to highlight the sweet beings I usually refer to as starlight or starseed animals. I’ve been meeting more of them lately in my sessions for clients and it’s always really lovely to feel their gentle energy and fascinating to meet their guides. I don’t always talk about this a lot because it feels like fantasy, but this is the reality I live in now and maybe it’s not more “out there” to share this than to tell stories about conversations I have with horses or dogs or turtles. So one of my wishes for 2019 is to share more of these amazing experiences I’m having. When I sit down to connect with someone’s companion (I do this part remotely) I invite all of their guides and then we start by all getting to know each other. It feels like meeting new friends for tea or coffee. This is one of my favorite parts. Getting to know starlight animals I am finding that there can be a lot of misunderstandings with their humans because they are the ones that don’t always act like others of their species. Traditional training may frighten or confuse them. Sometimes they are so telepathic that there isn’t a need to even speak out loud with them. Understanding where they are coming from and how they perceive their environment can make a big difference in how to offer them comfort and a feeling of safety. ❤️
✨✨✨ The photo on the left I took of my cat son Jarvis as part of my mfa thesis work a long time ago, it’s titled “the beckoning cat” and the moon I photographed recently-January’s eclipse.🌕✨ A lot of animal companions (including mine) are reminding their humans to go outside and (re)connect with nature. Even though I love being outside sometimes in the winter it might feel too rainy or too cold or I feel I have too much to do instead. Gracie & Merlin will relentlessly remind me that they want fresh air (catio or playpen) which results in me getting fresh air when I go out with them or open the catio door. Once I get a whiff of it I am instantly reminded of how much I actually need it - even if just for a few minutes. I immediately get out of my head and look around me and notice the beauty around, like this fluffy squirrel & our camellias blooming & lovely moss patterns on stone. All it takes is two minutes outside to shift my energy. (of course the longer the better.) A few nights ago I walked down the driveway simply to get mail and was stopped in my tracks by a stunningly bright quarter moon shining over the pines. Pure magic just stepping out the door.✨
Last week I was having one of those days-I had way over scheduled myself, stood in line at the post office forever right before they closed, realized my holiday cards would most likely become “happy new year” cards and was at the 3rd grocery store looking for a tofurkey (vegan soy turkey.) The first two stores had sold out of it. None of these things are even remotely terrible in the grander scheme-but I just felt so tired I was a bit deflated. Fortunately 3rd time was the charm and I got their last tofurkey. (I don’t think stores stock enough of them) I was standing in line to pay for it and the cashier said hello and I noticed his name was Jarvis!!✨
Jarvis is my cat son who is in spirit now (this is a photo of him.) He and his brother Juneau always find way to let me know they are still with me. In an instant this tiny sign/synchronicity turned things around. I smiled and complimented the cashier (a nice young person) on his name and on my drive home was able to tune in to gratitude. Able to access my deep knowing that our loved animal companions (and humans too,) will find a way to show they are with us. When we are missing them at the holidays and on the most seemingly average of days too. ❤️✨ This photo is of my husband holding our son. Merlin loves to be held closely like this and asks to be picked up and go under the covers. I chose this photo because it shows interspecies parenthood love. When Merlin wants comfort he seeks us to cradle him and then he sort of goes into a trance-like calm state of mind, occasionally accompanied by a tiny suckling sound which many cats make when they’ve been weaned too early. He makes it when he feels fully safe and cozy. Not all companion animals want to be held or carried but for Merlin it is a need. It’s so beautiful when we are able to recognize our animals’ emotional needs as well as their physical ones. And at times this even means placing their comfort above our own. I know for most of you reading this sounds normal - but in a way it’s a revolutionary concept. It’s completely dismantling our mainstream society’s generally accepted & taught species hierarchy. There may be resistance at times from some who haven’t known the love of an animal companion. But it doesn’t matter. What matters is what we know in our hearts about the love we share. The look in their eyes of complete trust that we will do our very best for them always. Honoring our companion’s need to have their emotions acknowledged.✨
