This is Perry-my sweet dog brother who lived with me and my parents when I was younger. I recently came across this photo I took of him.
I’ve been thinking about him with all the rain we are experiencing because I remember he did not like walking across puddles of water. We had to pick him up and carry him across puddles. He just stood there and waited patiently. I talk with so many dogs (and other animals) and love learning how incredibly unique and individual they all are in all the ways. Some dogs want to roll in mud and others refuse to get their paws wet.☔️Our “job” as their beloved human companions/family is to understand them and see it from their perspective. And to honor what they need even if it feels like an eccentricity or odd quirk. There are definitely stereotypes of what a dog “should” do / be. But that’s just human expectations. Once we leave behind these expectations we can better provide the environmental and emotional support they need- just as they so unconditionally do for us. And if they need it- we can carry them across puddles.💧✨ Comments are closed.
